  • How many stars are in the milky way?

    Stars are not scattered randomly through space, they are gathered together into vast groups known as galaxies. The Sun belongs to a galaxy called the Milky Way.

    Astronomers estimate there are about 100 thousand million stars in the Milky Way alone. Outside that, there are millions upon millions of other galaxies also!

  • What is the age of the Earth?

    Earth is estimated to be 4.54 billion years old, plus or minus about 50 million years. Scientists have scoured the Earth searching for the oldest rocks to radiometrically date. In northwestern Canada, they discovered rocks about 4.03 billion years old. Then, in Australia, they discovered minerals about 4.3 billion years old. Researchers know that rocks are continuously recycling, due to the rock cycle, so they continued to search for data elsewhere. Since it is thought the bodies in the solar system may have formed at similar times, scientists analyzed moon rocks collected during the moon landing and even meteorites that have crash-landed on Earth. Both of these materials dated to between 4.4 and 4.5 billion years.

  • How long have humans existed?

    While our ancestors have been around for about six million years, the modern form of humans only evolved about 200,000 years ago. Civilization as we know it is only about 6,000 years old, and industrialization started in the earnest only in the 1800s. While we’ve accomplished much in that short time, it also shows our responsibility as caretakers for the only planet we live on right now.

Air & Multipurpose Hose

Constructed with EPDM or oil-resistant nitrile and reinforced with high tensile textile cord or steel wire. Cover is nitrile or neoprene in various colors. Available in sizes ranging from ¼” to 4 ½” with a MAWP of up to 300. Suitable for temperatures ranging from ‘40 to 300 °F.

Bridgeman (Style 393)

The Bridgeman gasket is a pressure-activated gasket for use on pressure vessel heads and valve bonnets for pressures of 1500 psi (10 MPa) and above. The cross section of the gasket is such that internal pressure creates a self-energized seal between the ring and containing surface. Bridgeman gaskets are frequently silver plated or lead plated, providing a softer surface and minimizing the force required to flow the gasket metal into the flange surface.

Buna-N/Rubber (Nitrile, NBR)

Buna-N is a synthetic rubber that has good resistance to oils and solvents, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, petroleum oils, and gasoline over a wide range of temperatures. It also has good resistance to caustics and salts, but only fair acid resistance. It is not suitable for strong oxidizing agents, chlorinated hydrocarbons, ketones, or esters. It is suitable over a temperature range of approximately -60°F to 250°F (-51°C to 121°C).

BX (Style 390)

The BX ring gasket differs from the standard oval or octagonal shape since it is square in cross section and tapers in each corner. These metal ring gaskets can only be used in API 6A BX flanges. BX is suitable for pressures up to 20,000 psi. Standard sizes are stocked in low carbon steel, 304 and 316.

Chemical/Acid Service Hose

Made with FEP, PTFE or UHMWPE and XLPE backed and braided/reinforced with textile cord and steel wire helix or highly flexible thermo or fluoroplastic plies. Covers are EPDM. Hoses range in size from ¾” to 4” or 1” to 8” depending on type, with a MAWP of up to 250 psl. Suitable for temperatures ranging from -40 to 212 °F or 300 °F, depending on type.

Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene (Hypalon®)

Hypalon® has good acid, alkali, and salt resistance. It resists weathering, sunlight, ozone, oils and commercial fuels such as diesel and kerosene. It is not good in aromatics or chlorinated hydrocarbons, and has poor resistance against chromic acid and nitric acid. Its normal temperature range spans -50°F and 275°F (-46°C and 135°C).

Convoluted Bore Teflon Hose

Constructed with Convoluted PTFE and braided/reinforced with Polypropylene or SS Braid. Cover is SS Braid. Cover is optional. Hoses range in size from ⅜” to 3”  with a MAWP of up to 1,850 psl. Suitable for temperatures ranging from -65 to 450 °F.

Corrugated Metal Braided Hose

Constructed with 321SS, 316SS, bronze, Monel, Inconel, Hastelloy™ and braided/reinforced with the same material (with available double braiding). Cover is optional. Available in sizes from ¼” to 14” and MAWP of up to 4,406 psl. Suitable for temperatures ranging from cryogenic to 2,000 °F.

CR-Chloroprene (Neoprene)

Chloroprene is a synthetic rubber suitable for use against moderate acids, alkalies, and salt solutions. It has good resistance to commercial oils and fuels. It is not resistant to strong oxidizing acids, aromatic or chlorinated hydrocarbons. Its temperature range spans from approximately -60°F to 250°F (-51°C to 121°C).

Delta (Style 392)

A delta gasket is a pressure actuated gasket used primarily on pressure vessels and valve bonnets at very high pressures in excess of 5000 psi (34 MPa). Internal pressure forces the gasket material to expand when the pressure forces tend to separate the flanges. Extremely smooth surface finishes of 63 microinches or smoother are required when using this type of gasket. Complete drawings and material specifications must be supplied during ordering.

Dual Seal

These Kammpro or spiral wound gaskets are designed to mate with leak detection devices incorporated into flanked assemblies used in critical applications, such as lethal service. This highly effective gasket has a primary seal followed by a relief section with through holes towards the outer portion of the sealing area, where the leak detection equipment is mounted. Past this relief section is a secondary sealing area that will maintain the integrity of the bolted joint, should the primary seal be compromised and pressure differential is identified.

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene)

This synthetic material has good resistance to strong acids, alkalies, salts and chlorine solutions. It is not suitable for use in oils, solvents, or aromatic hydrocarbons. Its temperature range spans -70°F to 350°F (-57°C to 177°C).

FFKM (Kalrez® and Chemraz®)

Perfluoroelastomer (FFKM/FFPM) parts resist over 1,800 different chemicals, including concentrated nitric acid, sodium hydroxide, ethylene diamine and steam while offering the high temperature stability of PTFE 620°F (327°C). Kalrez® is a registered trademark of DuPont.

Fluorocarbon (Viton®)

Fluorocarbon elastomer has good resistance to oils, fuel, chlorinated solvents, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and strong acids. It is not suitable for use against amines, esters, ketones, or steam. Its normal temperature range spans -15°F to 450°F (-26°C to 232°C).

FluoroKote #1

FluoroKote #1 is a non-stick fluoropolymer coating.

Food & Beverage Hose

Made with natural rubber, mod. nitrile or FDA Sanitron and reinforced with high tensile textile and/or steel wire helix. Cover is rubber, nitrile or EPDM. Available in sizes ranging from ¼” to 6” with a MAWP of F.V. to 300 psl. Suitable temperature range is -40 to 230 °F.

Graphite Tape

Rolls of graphite tape can be furnished with a strong self-adhesive backing strip to facilitate repair of multiple surfaces, enhancement of existing design, or installation as a form-in-place gasket.

Helical Hose

Constructed with 304SS and 316SS and braided/reinforced with the same material (with available double braiding). Cover is optional. Available in sizes from ¼” to 1” and MAWP of up to 3,125 psl. Suitable for temperatures ranging from cryogenic to 850 °F.

Inhibitor Gasket

The Lamons inhibitor gasket provides corrosion resistance in the most extreme conditions, combining HTG filler configuration with highest purity graphite and a Kammpro inner ring laminated with soft PTFE material. The inner ring is inert in terms of corrosion through contact with dissimilar materials, and the fire safe design also combines graphite’s sealing ability with mica on the ID and OD to prevent entrance of further corrosive conditions.

Interlocked Hose

Made with Standard and Smoothbore 304SS and available in sizes from ½” to 28” with a MAWP of up to 500 psl.

Jacketed / Steam Traced Hose

Made with 321SS, 316SS, bronze, Monel, Inconel, Hastelloy™ and braided/reinforced with the same material (with available double braiding). Cover is optional. Available in sizes from ¼” to 14” and MAWP of up to 4,406 psl. Suitable for temperatures ranging from cryogenic to 2,000 °F.

Kamm-PEG

Kamm-PEG represents a pressure energized gasket with Kammprofiled sealing surfaces that greatly enhance sealing ability. Top and bottom of angled sealing gasket surfaces are serrated and faced with oxidation inhibited flexible graphite. This brings the benefits of under-compression graphite flowing into minor imperfections, creating higher seal tightness.

Kammpro Wedge

Kammpro wedge gaskets are designed to address flanged connections where one or both flanges have fallen out of parallelism. The unique angled profile of the Kammpro core allows for even compression without the load loss required to straighten flanges. By establishing how out of alignment your flanges are, we can determine if this is the right option for you.

Kammpro-Adapter (RTJ to RF)

Kammpro-Adapter gaskets allow for ring type joint flanges to be mated up to raised face flanges, utilizing the strengths of the full metallic with the added benefit of Kammprofiled sealing surfaces laminated with flexible graphite. Provided the pitch of the groove is sufficiently located under the raised face, this design is among the stoutest of adapter styles.

Kammpro-ORJ

The Kammpro-ORJ is sized to the standard octagonal API 6A or ASME B16.20 dimensions, with the Kammpro design applied to the sealing areas and faced with oxidation inhibited flexible graphite. This design is ideal for applications where cracking or embrittlement has been experienced in ring joint grooves. It is available in a large variety of metal materials and can be fabricated according to custom engineered designs. Special or custom sizing options are also available.

L100 (Fawn)

This biaxially orientated high-quality silica-filled PTFE sheet is effective for use in sealing most chemicals except molten alkali metals, fluorine gas, and hydrogen fluoride. This material is approved for potable water service, complies with requirements of FDA regulations, and can be used at all concentrations of sulfuric acid.

L104 (Blue)

This superior performance, biaxially orientated sheet material contains PTFE and hollow glass microspheres for use in sealing most chemicals except molten alkali metals, fluorine gas and hydrogen fluoride. This material is approved for potable water service, complies with requirements of FDA regulations, and has exceptional compression characteristics making it effective for use in glass lined flanges or where loading problems exist.

L110 (Off White)

This pigment-free biaxially orientated barium sulfate-filled PTFE sheet provides superior performance for use in sealing food, pharmaceuticals, and other general chemical media. This material complies with requirements of FDA regulations and is acceptable for use in aqueous hydrofluoric acid below 49%, but is not suitable for sealing molten alkali metals or fluorine gas.

L420

L420 is a general-purpose sheet jointing material with good mechanical properties. It is constructed with aramid/ organic fiber and a high-quality nitrile rubber binder. It is effective for use with mild organic and inorganic acids, diluted alkalis, general chemicals, synthetic oils, and petroleum and petroleum derivatives.

L430

L430 is a general-purpose sheet jointing material with superior mechanical properties. It is constructed with premium aramid fiber and a high-quality nitrile rubber binder. It is effective for use with mild organic and inorganic acids, diluted alkalis, general chemicals, synthetic oils, petroleum and petroleum derivatives.

L433

L433 is a premium sheet gasket material with a reinforcement structure consisting of glass and aramid fibers, bound together with a high-quality nitrile rubber binder. Addition of glass fiber gives L433 excellent steam resistance. It is effective for stronger acids and alkalis, inert gases, general chemicals, oils and fuels, and petroleum and petroleum derivatives.

L441

L441 is a general service sheet gasket material with a wide range of application potential. Manufactured with a formulation of high-quality fillers, premium aramid fibers and nitrile binder, L441 is the workhorse of the Lamons gasket line, featuring excellent sealing ability, good chemical resistance, creep relaxation minimization, and great recovery.

L443

L443 is a premium sheet gasket material with a reinforcement structure consisting of glass and aramid fibers bound together with a high-quality nitrile rubber binder. Addition of glass fiber gives L443 excellent steam resistance. It features excellent sealing ability and high resistance to creep, making it effective for stronger acids and alkalis, inert gases, general chemicals, oils and fuels, and petroleum.

L450

L450 is a premium sheet gasket material utilizing carbon and aramid fibers bound together with a high-quality nitrile rubber binder. L450 is designed to perform at high temperatures and pressures, featuring excellent sealing ability, high resistance to creep, and good steam resistance. Standardization and consolidation of many other gasket materials can be achieved using L450. It is suitable for stronger acids and alkalis, inert gases, general chemicals, oils and fuels.

L460

L460 is a premium sheet gasket material utilizing graphite and aramid fibers bound together with a high-quality nitrile rubber binder. L460 is designed to perform at high temperatures and pressures, featuring excellent sealing ability, high resistance to creep, and good steam resistance. Standardization and consolidation of many other gasket materials can be achieved using L460.It is suitable for stronger acids and alkalis, inert gases, general chemicals, oils and fuels, and petroleum and petroleum derivatives.

L540

L540 is a compressed sheet gasket material utilizing a high-quality Neoprene binder. It is reinforced with aramid and inorganic fibers, and is chemically stable with good mechanical properties. This material has an inherent resistance to oil and petroleum-based solvents, and is an effective choice for water, saturated steam, and refrigerants.

L640W

L640W is a premium compressed sheet gasket material utilizing a high quality SBR binder, reinforced with an engineered blend of aramid and inorganic fibers. It is chemically stable and possesses good mechanical properties, making it an effective choice for water, saturated steam, mild acids and alkalis, and inert gases.

Lens (Style 394)

A lens type gasket is a line contact seal for use in high pressure piping systems and in pressure vessel heads. The lens cross section is a spherical gasket surface requiring special machining on the flanges. Since the contact area is very small and gasket seating pressures are very high, these gaskets will seat with a small bolt load. Complete drawings and material specifications must be supplied during ordering.

LG-L

LG-L homogeneous graphite sheets are manufactured from high carbon content of minimum 98% natural graphite.

LG-SS

LG-SS is a flat metal 316/316L stainless steel reinforced flexible graphite sheet material made with minimum 98% typical carbon content.

LG-TC

LG-TC is a reinforced flexible graphite sheet material made with minimum 98% typical carbon content and laminated with tanged 316/316L stainless steel insert.

LP3-RJ

LP3-RJ provides a solution for RTJ to RF flange connections, or instances where the RTJ groove is damaged. The gasket is designed to sit between the bore and the groove of the RTJ flange and mate against the raised face flange. This can be a cost-saving solution as there is no need for costly flange replacement.

Material Handling Hose

Constructed with natural rubber, EPDM or nitrile (all conductive) and reinforced with high tensile textile and/or steel wire helix or PVC. Cover is SBR, EPDM or PVC (anti-static). Available in sizes ranging from ½” to 24”. MAWP ranges from F.V. to 800 psl. Suitable temperature range is -40 to 350 °F.

Our metal O-rings are available in a variety of materials upon request.

Natural Rubber

Natural rubber has good resistance to mild acids and alkalis, salts and chlorine solutions. It has poor resistance to oils and solvents, and is not recommended for use with ozone. Its temperature range is limited to between -70°F and 200°F (-57°C to 93°C).

Petroleum Service Hose

Constructed with rubber compound or oil-resistant nitrile and braided/reinforced with synthetic cord plies. Covers are 326. Hoses range in size from 1” to 6” with a MAWP of up to 400 psl. Suitable for temperatures ranging from -30 to 200 °F.

PTFE Encapsulated (Envelope Gaskets)

Envelope gaskets utilizing PTFE jackets feature low minimum seating stresses, excellent creep resistance, high deformability and choice of a variety of filler materials, including corrugated metal and rubber sheets.

Slit Type / V Type / Style 800 is sliced from cylinders and split from the outside diameter to within approximately 1/16” (1.5 mm) of the inside diameter. Bearing surface is determined by filler dimensions. The gasket OD normally rests within the bolt hole circle and the ID is approximately equal to the nominal ID of the pipe. Available in sizes to a maximum OD of 24”.

Milled Type / Square Cut / Style 820 is machined from cylinder stock. The jacket is machined from the OD to within approximately 1/32” (0.8 mm) of its ID. The jacket’s ID fits flush with the pipe’s bore and its OD nests within the bolts. Available in sizes up to a maximum OD of 24” (609 mm). 

Formed Tape Type is large diameter (over 12 NPS) and irregularly shaped envelopes are formed from tape and heat sealed to produce a continuous jacket construction.

PTFE Lined Rubber

PTFE lined rubber O-rings are more chemically inert and provide extended life of service with less downtime. They are self-lubricated to assist with installation.

PTFE molded O-rings are more chemically inert and provide extended life of service with less downtime. They are self-lubricated to assist with installation.

Rubber

For our rubber O-rings, standard elastomer options for proper chemical resistance are available.

  • AS568 and ISO 3601 standard O-ring sizes

Rubber Covered Teflon Hose

Constructed with PTFE or PFA and braided/reinforced with synthetic rubber/wire helix. Rubber covers are available. Hoses range in size from ½” to 4” with a MAWP of up to 550 psl. Suitable for temperatures ranging from -65 to 450 °F.

RX (Style 391)

RX ring gaskets are similar in shape to the standard octagonal ring joint gasket, but their cross section is designed to take advantage of the contained fluid pressure in effecting a seal. They are made to API 6A and interchangeable with standard octagonal rings. RX is suitable for pressures up to 5,000 psi. Standard sizes are stocked in low carbon steel, 304 and 316.

SBR (Styrene-Butadiene)

SBR is a synthetic rubber that has excellent abrasion resistance and good resistance to weak organic acids, alcohols, moderate chemicals, and ketones. It is not recommended for ozone, strong acids, fats, oils, greases, or most hydrocarbons. Its temperature range spans from approximately -65°F to 250°F (-54°C to 121°C).

Silicones

Silicone rubbers have good resistance to hot air. They are unaffected by sunlight and ozone. They are not suitable for use against steam, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons. Suitable temperature range spans -65°F to 500°F (-54°C to 260°C).

Smoothbore Teflon SS Braided Hose

Constructed with PTFE or PFA (available as Flare-Thru) and braided/reinforced with 304SS. Various covers are available. Hoses range in size from ¼” to 4” with a MAWP of up to 4,350 psl. Suitable for temperatures ranging from -65 to 450 °F.

Smoothbore Tefzel™ SS Braided Hose

Made with Tefzel and braided/reinforced with 304SS Double Braid. Covers are SS Braid. Hoses range in size from ¼” to ¾” with a MAWP of up to 4,500 psl. Suitable for temperatures ranging from -65 to 450 °F.

SRX and SBX

Per API 17D for Subsea Wellhead and Tree Equipment, Type SRX and SBX gaskets are vented to prevent pressure lock when connections are made up underwater. These gaskets have identical measurements to RX and BX ring gaskets with the same number designation and will fit the same corresponding connectors. Cross-drilled vent holes prevent fluid entrapment in the ring groove that could cause interference with proper make up underwater. Material per spec is defined as a corrosion resistant alloy.

Steam Hose

Made with EPDM and reinforced with braided high tensile steel wire with a pinpricked EPDM cover. Available sizes range from ⅜” to 2” with a MAWP of up to 250, and they are suitable for a temperature range of -40 to 450 °F.

Style 377R and 388R (Rubber Coated Rings)

Style 377R (oval) and 388R (octagonal) are rubber coated ring gaskets used in pressure testing to minimize damage to flanges. These gaskets, which are usually manufactured with steel, feature rubber contact points that provide additional seals while protecting the flange surfaces.

Style 377T and 388T (Transition Rings)

Style 377T (oval) and 388T (octagonal) consist of rings combining two different sizes with the same pitch diameter, which permits bolt up of differing size flanges.

Type R-Oval (Style 337) and Type R-Octagonal (Style 388)

API ring joint gaskets are available in two basic types, an oval cross section (Style 377) and an octagonal cross section (Style 388), both of which are suitable for pressures up to 10,000 psi. The octagonal cross section features higher sealing efficiency, while only the oval can be used in the older type round bottom groove. Both octagonal and oval types are compatible with the newer type flat bottom groove design.

Vegetable Fiber Sheet

Vegetable fiber sheet is a tough pliable gasket material manufactured with paper making techniques that utilize plant fibers and a glue-glycerine impregnation. It is widely used for sealing petroleum products, gases and a wide variety of solvents. If a more compressible material is required, a combination cork-fiber sheet is available. Both the vegetable fiber sheet and combination cork-fiber sheet have a maximum temperature limit of 250°F (121°C).

Water Suction / Discharge Hose

Constructed with EPDM or SBR and reinforced with high tensile textile and/or steel wire helix. Cover is SBR or EPDM. Available sizes range from 1” to 12” with a MAWP of F.V. to 150 psl. Suitable temperature range is -40 to 180 °F.

WR-AB (Anti-Buckling)

Style WR-AB provides a solution for customers who want to address inward buckling of spiral wound gaskets without the cost or bore intrusion of inner rings. By creating a space for expansion between the OD of the winding and the outer ring, the buckling along the inside can be reduced. This feature, combined with a reinforced inside circumference, helps to further reduce the likelihood of inward buckling after installation.

WRI-LC (Low Compression)

Style WRI-LC gaskets provide a seal at relatively lower seating stress. This means that our design requires less bolt load to seat, yet still features the recovery of a standard spiral wound gasket. The WRI-LC gasket is typical to Class 150 and 300 flanges, where users have a concern with insufficient potential of pre-load, but the density of the WRI-LC gasket can be varied to meet virtually any low load requirement.

WRI-LE (Low Emissions)

Style WRI-LE is the optimum choice when a gasket with high density and low emissions is required. This spiral wound gasket’s improved design incorporates the typical essentials such as a carbon steel guide ring, along with a stainless steel inner ring. Flanges in the 150 to 2500 pressure class range will benefit from this leading edge design.

WRI-LP (HF Applications)

Style WRI-LP is a spiral wound gasket designed for chemical resistance, API 6FB fire safe design, and with ASME B16.5 sizing. This gasket features a conventional outer guide ring and a “Kammpro” style LP1 inner ring that can be ordered in carbon steel (with or without PTFE coating) or in any alloy, such as Monel®. The inner ring can be faced with graphite or PTFE as desired. This dual sealing design engages the raised face completely across the sealing area. The winding can be constructed with the required metal and soft filler specified by the customer. This gasket is available in large diameters and for special flanges.

WRI-RJ/WR-RJ

Style WRI-RJ/WR-RJ is designed to sit between the bore and the groove of the RTJ flange and mate against the raised face flange, making it an effective solution for RTJ to RF flange connections. This product is well suited for hydro testing.

Xylan is a proprietary non-stick fluoropolymer from Whitford, available in a variety of different colors and applications.
